Install Ubuntu Server 10.10

What's up for visitors my personal blog, this time I want to give a little guide how to install ubuntu 10:10 server on your home PC.
before we began installing ubuntu 10:10 server need to be prepared to support the needs of some of the hardware in the installation process.

  • 1 PC
  • Hard Disk. (If I use the hard disk to hard disk with a capacity of 250 GB)
  • Memory / RAM (which I use for memory 2 GB)
  • Room DVD / DVD external
  • Ubuntu server installation CD
If he's the top you have prepared, it is time we begin to install ubuntu server 10:10
Insert your Ubuntu CD, then you go into the BIOS setup and change the "first boot" into the DVD Room. If you already save and exit.

Wait a moment, the display will appear where you must select langueage, in this section you select

"english" then "enter".

for your next told to specify the location of zones, adjust to where you live.

keyboard layout on the command you just select "No"

The next ubuntu will run as a supporting component.
Installing network, for this you cancel because you will do with the manual settings.

after the picture above, you will be required to determine the eth0 and eth1, then you are instructed to fill the IP, netmask, gateaway, and DNS server.

enter the hostname.

Setting a hard disk, select "Manual" for the partition which I use is as follows.
     /                           100 GB                                ext4
swap area                 (large 2x your memory)       swap
    /proxy                   40 GB                                  raiserFs
    /var                       40 GB                                  ext4
/home                   (the remaining capacity of the hard disk)
Ubuntu installer will then install the base system is needed, of course, after formatting the hard drive.

Ubuntu Installer will question whether the connection to the Internet use a proxy, but without
proxy can select "continue"

pick a package, this time I just choose "OpenSSH".

After the install is complete, "Continue" and the CD installer will come out by itself, Reboot and good luck.
